Soton Docks

When it comes to history of Southampton, it’s quite impressive. As with any other major port-city, its function has certainly diminished, however it’s still a very important link in everyday’s life of tens of thousands of people.

And I as a photographer love it just because it provides me with a number of opoortunities to take amazing landscape pics :-).

Beautiful Bristol

As you have probably read in the previous post, I went to Bristol last Saturday. And I had a wonderful day. If you click on the picture below, you’ll be taken to my Flickr page with a must-see photoset that has more than 70 pictures of both harbourside-based EDF Energy Festival and historic downtown.

And I’ve learned an invaluable lesson from my housemate as well — if you live in UK, do not ever make a travel plans by listening to the weather forecast… you would end up doing nothing. Just select an event you’d like to see, buy your train/bus ticket and hope ;-). I did that for my trip to Bristol and it worked out great, even though when I set off in the morning, it was foggy and heavily raining.

Race For Life @ Southampton

This Sunday was quite special. First off, it all started with pancakes that I’ve done for my very first time. And it went quite well ;-). More on that matter a bit later.

Right after I’d breakfasted, I set off for Race For Life 5k, which was organized by Cancer Research UK. As you can tell from the title, it wasn’t about racing, it was about charity and endeavour to bring cancer research a bit forward. Great idea with great people behind it, event-organization was flawless.

Only bad thing was that only women could run… so I decided to participate as a supporter and ladies’ ‘cheeruper’ ;-). And man, what a surprise when I got there.

I really did not think that for 5k women race would show up more than 10 thousand fellow-runners! That’s 3 times more people than Prague International Marathon had!!! Anyway, after this speechless moment of astonishment, I went on and took few pictures (all of them on my Flickr).

All in all, it was a great day! It was definitely one of the most enjoyable days in my life. And also, I’ve found out about Nike+ 10k Human Race in London by the end of August, which I’m very likely to join with my running shoes on.

Southampton

As you might have noticed, the design of my weblog has changed quite a bit. The reason I did so is quite simple. I’m not living in Prague anymore… From the title, it is obvious that I’ve moved — my new home for a while is going to be nice and small city in United Kingdom; namely Southampton.

So far, so good. As things get a little bit less crazy, I’ll write a longer post.
